Gel battery, also known as gel lead-acid battery, is an improvement on the common lead-acid battery with liquid electrolyte. The gel electrolyte is used to replace the sulfuric acid electrolyte, which has improved the safety, storage capacity, discharge performance and service life of the battery. The gel battery adopts the gel manufacturing technology, and the electrolyte in the battery is fixed in the silicon gel. The fixation of electrolyte is due to the silica gel space network structure formed by the polymerization of gel gelal particles to effectively fix the sulfuric acid electrolyte. Its principle is similar to that of using gel to fix the sulfuric acid electrolyte.
The development of gel battery itself is based on the improvement of rich liquid battery. Since the sulfuric acid electrolyte is fixed with silicon gel, the gas transmission inside the gel battery is completed through the channel formed by the cracks caused by the cracking of the gel. The amount of electrolyte will not affect the gas transmission channel, so there is no strict limit on the amount of electrolyte. The liquid rich design is usually used to ensure that the battery has better performance.
